About our bespoke Wide Beams
Bespoke Wide Beams
At Bluewater Boats, we are proud to be one of the UK’s leading builders of truly bespoke wide beam boats. Built entirely in-house at our Warwickshire facility, each wide beam is designed and handcrafted by our experienced team of boatbuilders, cabinet makers, marine engineers and painters. With beam widths available from 10ft up to 14ft, our wide beams offer the luxury and living space of a modern apartment - on water. Whether you’re looking for a full time home, a holiday escape or a spacious cruising vessel, we’ll work with you to bring your dream to life.
Spacious Living, Tailored to You
Wide beams offer the opportunity to create larger private cabins, full sized bathrooms, open plan galleys, and light filled saloon areas—all designed with your preferences in mind.
Each interior is entirely bespoke, and we work with you throughout the build process to discuss and agree every detail of every room.
Together, we’ll tailor:
- Cabinetry styles and finishes
- Fixed, extendable, or multi-use beds and wardrobes
- Bathroom layouts, including wet rooms and curved en-suites
- Galley designs, with full size appliances, pull out units and ample storage
- Flooring choices across the boat
- Window and doors styles
- TV units and custom storage solutions
- Paint colours and finishes
- Exterior detailing and signwriting
With each visit to our workshop, you’ll see your wide beam progress and help shape every decision. Our aim is simple: to deliver a boat that feels uniquely yours, inside and out.

Built by Experts, In-House
As with all our boats, every wide beam is built entirely on site by our team. We fabricate each hull ourselves, ensuring it meets your exact specification and design needs.
From the first weld to the final polish, our marine engineers, wood machinists, cabinet makers, and painters bring decades of experience to your build.
We’re not a production yard — every Bluewater wide beam is a one-off, hand-built with care, precision, and pride.
Signature Design Features
We’re known for designing wide beams that offer clever, practical solutions while maximising comfort and space.
Our Renowned Square Rounded Stern
This wraparound stern design features seating across the back as well as seating by the helm, offering the perfect space for alfresco dining and entertaining. There’s also additional deck space for table and chairs, plus enhanced access to the engine room.
Cruiser Stern Option
For those who prefer a more open deck layout, we also offer a round cruiser stern with open seat rail, ideal for relaxed cruising or extra outdoor living space.
New to canal boats or not..
From brand-new builds to hull restorations and upgrades, we’ve got you covered.
Flat Bottom with Chine
All our wide beams are built with a flat bottom and a chine – a key feature for:
- Improved manoeuvrability and propulsion
- Easier mooring in shallow waters
- Creating underfloor space for water and waste tanks, preserving valuable interior storage
The chine is discreetly hidden beneath the floor, ensuring no intrusion into your cabin space.

A Floating Home, Built for Life
Whatever your lifestyle or ambitions, we’ll create a boat that fits both.

Bespoke to You – Inside and Out
We understand that a narrowboat is more than just a boat – it’s your home, your escape, your lifestyle. That’s why we work closely with you to design every detail of the fit out, room by room, feature by feature.
You’ll be involved at every stage, and each visit to our workshop is an opportunity to discuss, confirm, refine, or explore new ideas.
Together, we’ll discuss and agree on:
- Cabinetry – styles, finishes and layout
- Beds and wardrobes – fixed, extendable or multi-functional with drawers
- Bathroom design – cabinets, sinks, showers and storage
- TV units and saloon furniture – built to fit your layout and lifestyle
- Galley units and worktops – bespoke to your cooking and storage needs
- Flooring options – wood, vinyl, or other finishes
- Window types and placements – for light, styles, views and ventilation
- Paint colours and finishes – inside and out with colour schemes
- Signwriting and exterior design – the final touch of personalisation
We don’t offer “standard options.” Every element is bespoke and discussed in depth. This collaborative process ensures your boat isn’t just custom made — it’s made for you.

Bespoke Electrical Systems
Designed for Your Lifestyle | Fitted to Perfection
At Bluewater Boats, just like every part of your boat, your electrical system is fully bespoke - designed in consultation with you, to suit how you plan to live and cruise aboard your narrowboat.
Whether you're a weekend cruiser, a continuous liveaboard, or planning off-grid adventures, our experienced marine engineers will design and install an electrical system that perfectly balances performance, reliability, and ease of use.
Tailored Power Systems
We fit a wide range of electrical setups, all customised to your needs and the boat’s capabilities, including:
🔹 12V, 24V and 48V systems
🔹 DC and AC systems for onboard appliances
🔹 Battery banks, including lithium and AGM options
🔹 Inverter/charger combinations
🔹 Shoreline connection systems
🔹 Solar integration
🔹 Generator compatibility
🔹 Navigation and lighting systems
All installations are carried out in-house by our skilled marine engineers, ensuring every component is safely fitted, logically laid out, and built to last.
Our electrical systems are not only reliable - they’re beautifully presented and clearly labelled, making them easy to use and maintain. It's part of the Bluewater standard.

Shot Blasting & Professional Two-Pack Paint System
Every Bluewater narrowboat is shot blasted and painted using a high performance two pack paint system, designed to significantly prolong the life of the steel and finish.
All painting is carried out in our dedicated, insulated paint workshop, fully equipped with a professional extraction unit. This controlled environment allows us to spray apply the paint – a far superior method to brush or roller applications.
Spraying allows us to build up a higher micron thickness of paint, giving your hull and superstructure a much stronger, more even protective layer.
This meticulous process ensures your boat is not only visually stunning, but also protected against the harsh conditions of the waterways for many years to come.
