Astrid is a bespoke 64ft narrowboat combining Bluewater Boats’ craftsmanship with advanced electric propulsion. Built for owners Terry and Charlotte, she was selected by Vetus to trial its new 22kW E-Line electric motor, delivering quiet, efficient and more sustainable cruising.
Her integrated 48V energy system includes eight 200Ah Victron lithium batteries, a 1,800W solar array, a 10kVA Quattro inverter/charger and a 6.5kVA backup generator. Intelligent monitoring provides real-time control of battery levels, solar generation and onboard power consumption.
An innovative hydraulic steering system replaces the traditional tiller, improving control while creating space for sociable U-shaped stern seating. Inside, Astrid’s botanical-inspired design features carefully selected fabrics, bespoke cabinetry, a koi-themed dinette table and a rotating bulkhead that balances privacy with natural light.
The steelwork was shot-blasted and protected with high-build epoxy coatings, non-slip finishes and durable Alexseal top coats. Independently surveyed and RCD certified, Astrid demonstrates how sustainable technology, thoughtful design and traditional boatbuilding expertise can work beautifully together.
