No engine rumble
Enjoy conversation, wildlife and the natural sound of the waterways without a diesel engine dominating the experience.
Quiet, clean and built entirely around you — combining near-silent cruising, intelligent power management and the same bespoke Bluewater craftsmanship from hull to final fit-out.
At Bluewater Boats, we are proud to lead the way in designing and building bespoke electric propulsion narrowboats.
Every narrowboat we create is a true one-off - hand-built at our Warwickshire workshop and tailored to your lifestyle, cruising plans, and desire for a quieter, greener way to travel the waterways.
Electric boating offers more than just innovation — it brings peace, performance, and sustainability, all in one refined package. By choosing electric propulsion, you’re not only investing in a smarter, cleaner boat with no engine noise disrupting the tranquillity of your surroundings - you’re helping protect the waterways for generations to come.

We offer a range of premium electric propulsion systems, all fitted in-house by our experienced marine engineers and tailored to your specific needs.
Our electric propulsion options include:
Every installation is designed as a complete system rather than a collection of components, providing confidence, reliability and effortless control.
Near-silent propulsion transforms the atmosphere aboard, whether you are passing through wildlife-rich stretches, setting off early or simply enjoying an unhurried day on the cut.
Enjoy conversation, wildlife and the natural sound of the waterways without a diesel engine dominating the experience.
A cleaner, more comfortable environment around the stern and throughout the boat.
Responsive propulsion and precise low-speed handling make relaxed cruising and manoeuvring straightforward.
Solar, lithium storage and intelligent charging create a flexible platform ready for changing technology and cruising needs.
In addition to propulsion, we build and fit fully bespoke electrical systems to match your narrowboat’s energy needs. Whether it’s a weekend cruiser or a full-time liveaboard, we design your setup to suit your lifestyle.
Systems can include:
All systems are neatly presented, clearly labelled, and installed with the same level of care and detail Bluewater Boats is known for.
As with all our boats, your electric propulsion narrowboat is hand-built from the base plate up by our in-house team. We fabricate the bespoke hull, fit the bespoke interiors, and apply our professional shot blasting and two-pack paint system, ensuring your boat is built to last in every respect. Customers can also choose from a variety of design options to suit their lifestyle and cruising style: a round stern or square stern, with the square stern proving increasingly popular for its additional outdoor social and storage space, and a short raised bow — maximising interior cabin space — or a traditional well deck with seat lockers, perfect for enjoying the view and relaxing at the water’s edge.
Maximises interior cabin space without compromising balance or handling — ideal for longer stays aboard.
Classic character with seat lockers on either side, combining useful storage and outdoor seating.
A sheltered U-shaped seating space with windows and double doors for comfortable year-round use.
Creates a generous social deck with seating, storage and room for dining or entertaining.
Round, semi-traditional and traditional arrangements for customers who prefer classic styling.
Every system and every room is designed as part of one complete boat, created by experienced specialists who understand both marine engineering and life aboard.
Designed for your lifestyle.
Near-silent propulsion with no exhaust fumes.
Premium motors and systems from trusted manufacturers.
Solar and generator integration for full off-grid capability.
All work carried out by our experienced marine engineers, carpenters, electricians, painters and steel fabricators.
From concept to completion.

You are involved throughout the build, with every workshop visit providing an opportunity to discuss, confirm, refine or explore new ideas. We do not offer standard option packs — every room and feature is considered with you.
Your boat is not simply custom made. It is made for you.
Electric propulsion sits quietly beneath a fully bespoke interior. The result is a boat that delivers the calm and refinement of silent cruising without compromising the comfort, craftsmanship or functionality expected from a Bluewater build.
From restful bedrooms and carefully planned bathrooms to sociable saloons and tailored storage, every space is created around the people who will use it.
Unlike many boat builders, we fabricate our hulls on site. Our marine engineers, cabinet makers and painters work as one team, ensuring the steelwork, propulsion, electrical systems, interior fit-out and professional two-pack paint finish are fully integrated.
The hulls and superstructures are constructed entirely in-house, beginning with:
The narrowboat is then transferred into our insulated paint workshop, where we apply high-build primers, non-slip coatings to the gunnels and Alexseal top coats, followed by an acrylic urethane clear coat — offering a high-gloss finish, excellent UV and colour stability, abrasion and fuel resistance, and a buffable surface, perfect for restoring scratches or tree damage.
To ensure complete compliance and professionalism, every electric propulsion narrowboat undergoes:
