Using this website
You may use this website for lawful personal or business enquiries. You must not misuse it, attempt unauthorised access, interfere with its operation, submit false or unlawful material, impersonate another person, or use automated systems to send spam.
Website material is provided for general information. We take reasonable care over it, but specifications, prices, availability, photographs, timescales and other details may change and should be confirmed directly with us before you rely on them or make a decision.
Intellectual property and external services
Unless stated otherwise, the website design, text, branding, photographs and other content belong to Bluewater or are used with permission. They may not be copied or commercially reused without permission. Links and embedded material from third parties, including video and social platforms, are provided for convenience; those services have their own terms and privacy practices.
Boat listings, seller reviews and brokerage
Bluewater is primarily a boat builder and may occasionally advertise, introduce buyers to sellers, review boats for possible sale, or act as broker or agent under a separate written agreement. Submitting a seller-review form does not guarantee that a boat will be accepted, valued, advertised or sold. Joining a waiting list does not guarantee that a suitable boat will become available or that a person will have priority.
Where information about a used boat is supplied by its owner or another third party, Bluewater may present that information in good faith but does not automatically verify every statement. A listing is not a survey, valuation, warranty or promise that a boat is suitable for a particular person or use.
Prospective buyers should make their own enquiries and, where appropriate, obtain an independent condition and valuation survey, confirm ownership and title, inspect relevant documentation and Boat Safety certification, verify dimensions and specifications, and arrange suitable finance, insurance, licensing, mooring and transport. Buyers should not rely solely on photographs, videos, descriptions or informal comments.
The identity of the contracting seller, Bluewater’s role, any deposit arrangements, commission, client-money arrangements and the terms applying to a particular transaction will be confirmed separately in writing. Nothing on this page forms a contract for the purchase, sale, construction or brokerage of a boat.
Responsibility
Bluewater is not responsible for losses caused by inaccurate information supplied by an owner or other third party where Bluewater has taken reasonable care and is not at fault; for a buyer’s failure to inspect, survey or check a boat; or for events outside Bluewater’s reasonable control. Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts responsibility where doing so would be unlawful, including responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or rights that consumers cannot lawfully waive.
Privacy notice
We handle personal information in accordance with applicable UK data-protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. We collect only information reasonably needed to operate the website, answer enquiries, provide requested services, manage potential transactions, maintain security and meet legal obligations.
Information we may collect
- name, email address, telephone number and contact preferences;
- information submitted through contact, used-boat enquiry, waiting-list and seller-review forms;
- details about a boat, its ownership, condition, history, location, asking price and documentation;
- correspondence, internal notes and records of consent or verification;
- technical and security information such as IP address, browser information, session data and spam-prevention signals;
- mailing-list preferences where a person separately chooses to subscribe; and
- analytics information where non-essential cookies have been accepted.
Why we use it
We use information to respond to the form or request for which it was supplied; verify email addresses; arrange conversations or visits; assess seller requests; administer used-boat waiting lists and potential brokerage; manage customer and supplier relationships; secure the website; prevent fraud and spam; improve the website; comply with law; and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Depending on the circumstances, our lawful basis may be taking steps at a person’s request before a contract, performing a contract, complying with a legal obligation, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting our business and responding to genuine requests, or consent where the law requires it.
Forms, replies and purpose limitation
By submitting any website form, you ask and give permission for Bluewater to contact you about that specific request using the details provided. This includes contact enquiries, used-boat enquiries, registration for a used-boat wish or waiting list, and requests to have a boat considered for sale or brokerage.
Submitting an ordinary form does not subscribe you to general marketing. We will use the information to deal with the request, relevant follow-up and associated administration. We will not use it for unrelated purposes and we do not sell personal information or mailing lists to third parties.
Waiting-list information may be used to contact you when a potentially relevant boat becomes available. Seller information may be reviewed internally and, where necessary to progress the request, discussed with professional advisers or service providers subject to appropriate confidentiality and data-protection arrangements.
Mailing lists and company updates
If we introduce a newsletter or mailing-list facility, subscription will require a separate, clear choice. A marketing box will not be pre-ticked and consent will not be a condition of submitting an unrelated enquiry. We may use a specialist email service provider acting on our instructions to manage delivery.
Mailing-list details will be used only for the Bluewater newsletters, boat availability alerts or company updates described when a person subscribes. Every marketing email will provide a straightforward way to unsubscribe. Consent may also be withdrawn by contacting us. We may retain a minimal suppression record so that we can respect an unsubscribe request.
Sharing and international processing
We may share information only where reasonably necessary with website hosting, IT, email delivery, mailing-list, analytics, professional advisory and security providers acting for us; with a buyer, seller or relevant professional where necessary to progress a requested boat transaction; where required by law; or with consent. These recipients may process information only for the relevant purpose and must protect it appropriately.
Some technology providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, we will use an appropriate legal safeguard required by UK data-protection law.
How long we keep information
We do not keep identifiable information indefinitely “just in case”. General enquiries are normally reviewed for deletion after 24 months without meaningful contact. Waiting-list records are normally reviewed at least every two years and removed when no longer useful or when withdrawal is requested. Unsuccessful seller requests are normally reviewed after three years. Transaction, contract, tax and dispute records may be retained longer where needed for legal, accounting or claims purposes. Mailing-list information is kept until unsubscribe or withdrawal, subject to a minimal suppression record.
Security and email verification
We use proportionate technical and organisational measures including access controls, form validation, spam controls and email verification for certain forms. No internet or email system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect information.
Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to be informed; request access to your information; correct inaccurate information; request deletion or restriction; object to processing; receive certain information in a portable format; and withdraw consent. These rights are not absolute and legal exemptions may apply.

Changes
We may update this page when our services, legal duties or technology change. The latest version and update date will be published here. Separate written terms may apply to a particular build, sale, brokerage appointment or other service; if there is a conflict, the separately agreed terms will govern that transaction to the extent permitted by law.
